“I got a CRUSH ON YOU…” I get giddy every time I sing the song, or even watch the video. I’ve been working on this album for the past year. I’ve always written and I’ve always wanted to record an album. It just never worked – couldn’t find the right producers, dedicated musicians, and I didn’t yet have my own sound and style…until now.

I was working a stressful 9-5 when I decided to take a songwriting workshop. I simply needed to de-stress. The workshop was led by Gordon Chambers and Barry Eastman. At the end of the workshop, I had the opportunity to perform a song I had written on a soundstage for the two legends to critique.

After my performance, Gordon gave me a standing ovation and Barry urged me to get into a studio and record ASAP. That was late 2012 and I obeyed. And I wrote tons of songs but it really took about a year for me to develop a catalog of songs that I felt were strong enough to share in my first project. I linked with an engineer and musician based out of Long Island, Steve Kupillas and we have created magic together. He is super talented and has an amazing ear! Of all the songs we’ve recorded, “Crush On You” was the single we decided to release first. Steve produced alongside Maltar Music. In addition, I collaborated with songwriters Brian Garrett and Shante Alerte, and we’ve really created such a fun song!

I mentioned earlier that I get giddy when I hear it and it’s because the song is just so honest. I am such a romantic and when I have a crush on someone, I get soooo giddy – I lose all sense of time, space, and most definitely sentence structure – HA! I’m equally giddy simply because I am truly grateful to be working with such an amazingly talented team of people, and the team just keeps growing! “Crush On you” represents that team! It also represents a woman who’s greatest desire is to create through music, stories that people can see themselves in, stories that make people feel good and/or challenge them to feel better. That’s where my intention is always. “Will someone become better somehow by listening to this?” I simply hope that’s what people hear when they listen.

The next single is called “Hurt Me” and features rapper Doe Cigapom. It’s much different from Crush On You and has such a powerful message, but the intention is still the same and I can’t wait to share it! We are planning to release the single and video early Spring.
