The Live Unchained crew had a wonderful time at Howard University yesterday learning the origin stories of Middle of Nowhere director and lead actress Ava DuVernay and Emayatzy Corinealdi. We’ll be following up with you soon to share everything that helped us think deeper about what it means for all of us to Live Unchained and push our art forward. Also, stay tuned for our lively interview with Ava and Emayatzy – we were honored to have so many funny, enlightening and “only on Live Unchained” moments with these inspiring women.

What does living unchained mean to you?
...artistic freedom, brutal honesty and quirky personalities...We are all bound in some way by family, history and society, but that doesn’t have to limit us. As artists, it is also our strength.
For me, living unchained means finding that thing in your blood that you’re passionate about and pursuing it, chasing it, living it, being it…no matter what.
Doing fearlessly.
It is a great adventure. Typically, we don’t know what will come in the next moments or in the next months. But, when I look back, over a long time, I have been able to live from my passion of music and I am grateful. Whatever else comes, I will be fine.
It means saying "this is who I am" - accept it or don't.
